Katy Lipscomb is a freelance illustrator living in Alpharetta, Georgia.
“I have a wide array of inspirations and artists that I look up to, but I have to say that since I was little my number one inspiration has been my mom,” Lipscomb told Bored Panda. “From the moment I could hold a pencil and draw, she ensured that I had a place to create. In our first house, this was just a little nook underneath the basement stairs.”
A professor once told Lipscomb, “When you decide to call yourself an artist, then you are an artist.” As for everyone else’s opinion? “listen to feedback, but to take it with a grain of salt,” advises Lipscomb. “I am mostly referring to comments on the internet, comments from family, or comments from random strangers. This kind of feedback can be helpful, but it can also tear a person down…If you want to please everyone, art is the wrong profession.”
